Obituary

William R. "Bill" Dritshulas, Jr., 86, passed away due to natural causes on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Northern Montana Care Center.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Monsignor Daniel Wathen officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.  His family has suggested that memorial donations in Bill's memory be made to the Friends of the Animal Shelter, St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Bill was born on March 12, 1939, in Havre to William and Bonniebelle (Cummins) Dritshulas, Sr.  He was raised in Havre, graduating from Havre Central High School in 1957.  Bill continued his education at St. Mary's College of California where he received his bachelor's degree in urban planning.  He entered the University of San Francisco law school, but his father passed away and he returned to Havre to help his family run the business.  Over the years, Bill owned and operated the Duck Inn, the Emporium Food and Fuel Store, the Great Northern Inn, and more recently the Boothill Plaza, and the Havre Inn and Suites.  In 1995, Bill married Judi (Wotowski) Bania and adopted her son, John.

Bill was a businessman at heart, who truly enjoyed operating his company.  He spent a large portion of his life collecting antiques; and has a room dedicated to him and many of his prized artifacts at the H. Earl Clark Museum in Havre.  He loved animals, and he and Judi had several pets over the years.  In his earlier years, Bill was an avid reader, and he possessed a voracious appetite for learning.  His knowledge of local history was extensive, and he truly loved Havre and the Hi-Line. Over the years, Bill was involved with several philanthropic organizations.  His family, though, was the most important to him.  He adored them.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Bakker, and his parents, William and Bonniebelle Dritshulas.

Bill is survived by his wife, Judi Dritshulas, of Havre; son, John (Whitney) Bania of Havre and Fresno, CA; five grandchildren, Tia, Joseph, and Lavin Bakker, all of the Flathead Valley, and Reece and Gwen Bania, both of Fresno, CA; and sister, Margaret May Kase of Vancouver, WA.
