July 18, 1944 – September 20, 2025
Wilford Leo Duran, 81, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls due to injuries sustained in an accident earlier this month. Wake services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Tran officiating. Burial will follow in the Duran Family Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Wilford was born on July 18, 1944, in Fort Belknap to Leo and Mary Elizabeth (St. Pierre) Duran. He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending school there. Following his school years, Wilford worked at various laborer jobs before returning to the family ranch to help out. In 1963, he married Glenda, and they had five children before divorcing. He later married Marie, and they too divorced. Wilford had a long-term relationship with Cynthia, and they had two children before going their separate ways. He began working for the Rocky Boy educational system as a bus driver, a position he held for several years; and he also worked for the Rocky Boy Police Department as security for the Rocky Boy Pow Wow. He moved to Great Falls and married Sherri. They only recently divorced.
Wilford was an outgoing, social butterfly who loved to joke and tease with his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, and listening to western music. Watching western movies was a favorite pastime, and he loved to meet new people. His family says Wilford never met a stranger, only a future friend.
He was preceded in death by his children, Delores, Kimberly, Carol, and Leo Glenn Duran; parents, Leo and Mary Duran; siblings, Caroline Molyneaux, Clifford Duran, Robert Duran, and Shirley Descharm; and several nieces and nephews.
Wilford is survived by his children, Shelley Duran of Great Falls, and Dustin and Cynthia Duran, both of Billings; numerous grandchildren; siblings, Agnes Morsette, Elaine (Earl) Nault, Manuel (Linda) Duran, Sr., and Rose Lee Lindseth, all of Rocky Boy, and Joseph (Marlene) Duran of Pocatello, ID; adopted brother, Richard Duran of Seattle, WA; adopted sister, Vina Duran of Great Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
