Obituary

Wabusk Ragged Robe, 43, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Saturday, November 13, 2021.  Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021, and will continue until Monday morning, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy.  His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Fort Belknap Community Center.  Burial will follow in the Pink Church Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Wabusk was born on March 2, 1978, in Helena to Edday Ragged Robe and is the son of Courage Benally.  He was raised in Helena, attending school there.  After high school, he attended Stone Child College and the University of Montana in Missoula, and received his Master's Degree from Montana State University in Bozeman.  Wabusk taught Native American Studies at MSU Bozeman and Stone Child College in Rocky Boy, where he and Tara raised their kids.

He adored his family, and time spent with them was treasured.  He was a kind man, who enjoyed Pow Wow singing, which took him all over the world and inspired all kinds of people.  When he was younger, Wabusk was able to meet Desmond Tutu, President George Bush, and Floyd "Red Crow" Westerman, and he was the Super Heavyweight Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in the mid-90s.  He was, however, a gentle spirit, and was especially loved by children and animals.  He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, people listened.  Wabusk was a member of the Native American Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edday Ragged Robe; brother, Billy Gomez; grandmother, Angela Larsen; and all his beloved aunties and and uncles.

Wabusk is survived by his significant other, Tara TopSky of Rocky Boy; children, Naytha Ragged Robe of Helena, and Magic "Adaia" and King Ragged Robe, both of Rocky Boy; sister, Sagatay Ragged Robe of Helena; brothers, Charlie Gomez of Boulder, Montana, Mick Stemborski of Columbia Falls, and Ian LaFontaine, Lawrence Walker, and Terrance (Melinda) Sabbas, all of Seattle, WA; nephew, Fox Ahenakew of Helena; and other extended family and friends.
