Obituary

Vivian E. Tomaskie, 96, passed away due to natural causes at the Northern Montana Care Center on Thursday, November 16, 2023.  Private family graveside services have been held.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home was entrusted with services and arrangements.

Vivian was born on August 27, 1927, in Warner, Alberta, to Gordon and Ellen (Miller) Bannen.  After high school, she married Nick Tomaskie in Great Falls, and the couple made their home in Shelby until 1967, when the moved to For Benton.  There Vivian worked at the laundry, and then at the Loma Cafe and the hospital as a cook.  Nick passed away in 1980, and in 2014, Vivian moved to Havre to be near her boys.  There she became a close friend with Marshall, who had lost his wife, and the couple traveled to almost every state and took cruises to Hawaii and Alaska, and did all kinds of things together.  They were blessed with a wonderful friendship.

Vivian enjoyed square dancing, and fiddle and accordian music.  She liked to bake and make soups, and she absolutely loved to cook.  Vivian spoiled her children and grandchildren with her cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Tomaskie; son, Nick Tomaskie, Jr.; grandson, Nick Tomaskie III; and parents, Gordon and Ellen Bannen.

Vivian is survived by her son Alex (Carley) Tomaskie; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
