Obituary

Valerie Rose (Blacktongue) Moreni of Havre, Montana passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Northern Montana Hospital due to liver cirrhosis on Friday night - January 31, 2025. Valerie was born January 15, 1972, in Havre, Montana to Caroline (Mountain) Crazyboy and Ervin Blacktongue. Valerie's wake will take place Febuary 4, 2025 at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Fort Belknap. Service will follow on Febuary 5, 2025 at 9 a.m. Holland & Bonine funeral home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Valerie lived a majority of her life in Montana, as well as Seattle for a short while but always found her way back "home" to Havre. Valerie tried her hand at many types of work including hotel/hospitality, waitress, forestry, CNA, etc. Similar to ancestors before us, she rustled to no end to take care of herself and those around her whom she loved. Anyone who knows or had gotten the chance to get well acquainted with Valerie realize you cannot define her in select, few words nor reduce her to simply being an alcoholic - she had range and always powered through and persisted up until this point.

We miss Valerie's presence, the exchanging of stories, and miss hearing her loud, distinct laugh. We grieve not being able to just stop by to be able to spend time with her in her earthly form any longer.

Valerie saw good which others possessed and therefore deserved, so thank you to all who were able to reciprocate and see the worthy individual she was, albeit with the accompanying struggles. Our family also wishes to extend our gratitude to Northern Montana Hospital staff whom we observed caring for/treating Val with dignity and respect the entire duration of her stay- truly like one of their own, since she in a sense was theirs/Havre's as much as she was ours, for better or worse.

Valerie is survived by her parents Caroline Crazyboy of Great Falls, MT & Ervin Blacktongue of Seattle, WA; Sisters: Joleen (Frank) Cochran of Seattle WA, Gloria & Leslie Crazyboy of Great Falls, MT; Brothers: George (Mary Hsu) Blacktongue of Seattle, WA, & Amor (Kara) Blacktongue of Great Falls, MT.

As well as her Children: Milo Moreni of Havre, MT, Megan Moreni of Great Falls, MT, & estranged Son, Dexter Frey; as well many grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, large family on the the Brisbo side, and one cannot fail to mention her niece Nicole "Nikki" Ebel who Valerie referred to as "Baby" as well as Valerie's ex-husband Martin "Marty" Moreni who remained a dear friend/support to Valerie and family.

Valerie is preceded in death by Grandparents: Moses & Molly Mountain, Theresa "Beeshgo" Brisbo, George Blacktongue. Sister, Merrilyn "Puey" (Blacktongue) Ricker; Niece, Brooke Blacktongue; Aunts: Francene "Eight Ball" Brockie, Rose "Sugie" Main, Gayleen "Teeny" NoRunner, Step-father Francis "Fregon" Saddler, Step-mother Marie (Evans) Blacktongue, adopted brother Steven Blacktongue.
