Obituary

Thomas M. Stiffarm, Ee Dahn Inin "Buffalo Man", 64, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.  Private family services have been held.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.  Please visit Thomas' online memorial page and leave a message of condolence for his family at www.hollandbonine.com .

Thomas was born on July 12, 1956, in Malta to Thomas Edward and Delores (Haubrich) Stiffarm.  He was raised in Dodson, the oldest of the grandchildren.  He spent much of the time in his younger years between his grandparents Katie (Applehans) Haubrich and Tom and Vina Stiffarm in Fort Belknap and his parents' home in Dodson.  Tommy graduated from Dodson High School in 1974, and entered the US Air Force in 1975, serving until his honorable discharge in 1980.  He married Cynthia McDonald in 1981 in Malta, and the couple had two children before divorcing.  Tommy received a Bachelor's of Business degree from MSU-Northern in 1987. He worked several jobs over the years, including in construction, as a Realtor, a property manager, and with the Tekawitha Society at the Catholic Church in Great Falls.  However, he found his calling when he began working with Wellbriety, which is an organization that assists in substance abuse recovery in veterans.  While working with Wellbriety, Tommy became a White Clay Pipe Carrier.  He returned to Northern Montana in 2018, and lived with his daughter until he entered the Northern Montana Care Center in 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Delores Stiffarm, and brother Greg Stiffarm.

Tommy is survived by his children, Lindsey (Jeromy) Mansfield of Joplin and Aaron Simonson of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Kyla, Sebastien, Harley, and Merida Mansfield; siblings, Kevin (Carla) Stiffarm of Fort Bragg, NC, Veronica Stiffarm of Billings, and Mildred "Midge" Strike of Rocky Boy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
