Theresa
Tendoy
October 12, 1931 – June 9, 2021
Theresa Tendoy, Chief Smoke Woman and Teepee Pole Woman, 89, passed away due to natural causes at the Northern Montana Care Center on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Wake services will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Theresa was born on October 12, 1931, on Hill 57 in Great Falls to Louis and Maggie (Walking Child) Mosney. She was raised in Great Falls, attending the first few years of school in Great Falls before the family relocated to Rocky Boy. In 1957, Theresa married Udale Tendoy, and the couple had three children before later divorcing. She married Albert St. Pierre in 1968, and they had two children. Albert later passed away, and Theresa kept busy helping her children raise her grandchildren.
Theresa enjoyed rummage sales, cooking, and traveling. No matter the time of day or night, she always had a full course meal waiting for friends and family. She was an incredibly intelligent woman who was proud of her culture and heritage, and she shared her cultural, language, and medicinal knowledge with all who wanted to learn. She looked forward to attending sweats, all cultural ceremonies, and all native activities. The absolute light of Theresa's life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert St. Pierre; son, Merle Tendoy; grandsons, Merle Tendoy, Jr., Matthew Denny, Jr., Curtis Denny, Shawn Tendoy, and Henry Mosney; parents, Louis and Maggie Mosney; and all of her brothers and sisters.
Theresa is survived by her children, Darrell Tendoy of Idaho, and Joyce (Matthew) Denny, Dorene Tendoy, Brenda St. Pierre, Brian St. Pierre, and Gary (Tyler Rose Small) Tendoy, all of Rocky Boy; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many, many cousins and wonderful friends.
