Susanna J.
Stahl
June 18, 1944 – March 13, 2024
Susanna Stahl, 79, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, due to natural causes on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Her wake will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Gildford Colony Church. Burial will follow in the Gildford Colony Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Susanna was born on June 18, 1944, in Cranford, Alberta, to Jakob and Katie (Waldner) Hofer. She was raised at the Lakeside Colony in Cranford until the family moved to the Pine Hill Colony in Penhold, Alberta, where Susanna attended school. The family later moved to Box Elder Colony in Saskatchewan. She married Joshua Stahl at Deerfield Colony in 1971. In 1974, the couple moved to Gildford Colony, where they made their home and raised their family.
Susanna stayed home with her family until they were grown, and then she worked as a Kindergarten teacher for many years. She loved teaching and caring for the children, and was especially happy when she had grandchildren of her own to teach and care for.
Susanna was and outgoing, busy woman who, according to some people, was "the best cook", and she loved to knit, sew, and spend time with her family. Her favorite pastimes included praying, reading her Bible, and singing to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Stahl; granddaughter, Megan Stahl; parents, Jakob and Katie Hofer; sister, Katie (Dan) Hofer; and brothers-in-law, Peter Hofer and Sammy Walter.
Susanna is survived by her husband, Joshua P. Stahl; daughters, Marilyn (Martin) Hofer and Theresa (Tim) Stahl; sons, Ruben (Dianne) and Mark (Esther) Stahl; thirteen grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Hofer, Maria (Darius) Hofer, Anna Hofer, Barbara (Mike) Walter, Magdalena (Jacob) Waldner, Dorothea (Peter) Hofer, and Rebecca Walter; brothers, Chris (Mary) and Jacob (Rachel) Hofer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We will forever admire Susanna's wisdom. Her love for her family and die Gemein will continue to grow through the lives of those she touched. "Dear Mom and Grandma, we honor your life, love, and legacy. Rest in Peace."
God needed a helper in His garden and with great sadness, He called home our dearest Mom, Susanna J. Stahl.
