November 7, 1961 – April 10, 2023
Stephanie Kay Parker, (Red Rock Thunderbird Woman), 61, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Monday, April 10, 2023. Wake services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Earl "Archie" Arkinson and Harlan Baker officiating. Stephanie was born on November 7, 1961, in Fort Belknap to Barbara Jones. She was raised in Hays by her parents, Willie and Barbara Bradley, graduating from Hays Lodge Pole High School in 1979. Stephanie immediately began working for the school as the secretary, and remained there for a couple of years. In 1981, she married John Parker, and the couple moved made their home in Hays for a while then moved to Havre for several years. They relocated once again, to Rocky Boy, where they raised their four children and three more whom they adopted. There, Stephanie worked for the Chippewa Cree Tribe and Stone Child College in various contract positions before she took the job of teacher's aid in the special education department. She remained there for several years until her husband's health required her to stop working for a while. After his health improved, Stephanie went back to work as a cook in a few different places at Rocky Boy.
Stephanie was a reserved woman who was very family oriented. She enjoyed sewing, beading, and traveling, and made all of her grandchildren's regalia with her husband, John. She loved horses. Stephanie was raised Catholic, but later in life, she embraced her Native American culture and ceremonies. Stephanie's family was her world, and she loved to care for anyone in need, which resulted in her becoming a "mom" or "grandma" to all. Steph was everyone to everybody. She was the wife of Tim Parker, Sr., mother, grandmother, auntie, sister, and a good true friend. Steph brought whatever was needed for a visit – someone to listen, advice, humor, and laughter and wit, compassion and stories. She gave us beadwork that is colorful, well-worked, and beautifully designed. Stephanie's house is warm and filled with love and family. She leaves us a home with family artwork and photographs on all walls. Soft-spoken Stephanie K. Parker gave us memories of laughter, a caring person – dedicated to the best interest of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Barbara Bradley; sister, Laurencine Doney; and close cousin, Benny Jones.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, John Parker of Rocky Boy; children, Vadette (Moose Longfox) Parker of Big Sandy, Kendall (Adalita Russette) Parker, Timothy (Felicia Buffalo) Parker, and Kyle Parker, all of Box Elder, Thomas Parker of Great Falls, Lacroix "Colton" Plainfeather of Billings, and Riley Parker of Box Elder; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Dominic (Wendy) Bradley of Box Elder, Marcel (Reg Killsnight) Bradley of Lame Deer, Stacey (Enos) Russell of Hays, and Leanne (Andy) Werk of Hays; adopted siblings, Elroy and Deb Carrier, Helena Brockie, and Kay Jones; her beloved cat, Mittens; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
