Stanley W. Gardipee, Jr., 84, passed away due to natural causes at Peace Hospice on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Wake services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, and will continue until his funeral service. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, and his funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, also at St. Mary's. Stanley was born on November 22, 1934, in Harlem, Montana, to Stanley and Louise (Paranteau) Gardipee, Sr. He was raised in Rocky Boy, and graduated from Flandreau Indian School in 1952. Upon graduation, Stanley enlisted in the US Army, and served until his honorable discharge in 1955. He returned home to Rocky Boy, and in 1958, he married Rena Sangrey. The couple had four children before divorcing. He married Kathy Windy Boy in the 1980s with whom he had a daughter.

Upon his discharge from the Army, he worked as a mechanic. In the mid-60's, he began working in law enforcement for the BIA and Tribal Police, retiring in 2014.

Stanley was a dedicated family man who enjoyed playing electric Solitaire, listening to classic country music, and cruising in his car. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids and work on his cars.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Rena Gardipee; second wife Kathy Gardipee; son Kenny Gardipee; parents Stanley and Louise Gardipee, Sr.; and brothers William and Henry Gardipee.

Stanley is survived by his children, Ronald and Richard Gardipee of Rocky Boy, Susie (Clyde) Werk, Jr of Hays, and Marissa Gardipee of Rocky Boy; 22 grandchildren, several of whom he adopted; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters Ramona Favel of Great Falls, Shirley Seymour of Havre, and Mary Olive Brist of Kalispell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
