Sky Child "Gesik" Big Knife, 79, passed away due to natural causes at the Morning Star Care Center in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, on Friday, April 3, 2020. Wake services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2020, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2020, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Sky was born on April 10, 1940, in Rocky Boy to Big Knife and Flora (Stump) Big Knife. He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending school there. Following his school years, Sky ranched and rode bulls in the rodeo for several years. He married Yvonne Big Knife in the late 1950's and the couple had five children. In 1979, Sky sold his ranch and moved to Fort Washakie, Wyoming, where he worked as a caretaker for several years, retiring in 1989.

He enjoyed bingo, gambling, and he loved bull riding. He enjoyed being around people and socializing, but very rarely expressed his emotions.

Sky was preceded in death by his son, Walter Big Knife; grandson, Justin Big Knife; parents, Big Knife and Flora Big Knife; brothers, John and Joe Big Knife; and sisters, Ruby Big Knife, Mary Merasty, and Jeanne Hobbs.

He is survived by his children, Aaron Big Knife of Colorado, Purely Big Knife of Lander, Wyoming, and Mandy (Rob) Harding and Lex Big Knife, all of Fort Washakie, Wyoming; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie and Evelyn Big Knife of Rocky Boy and Alice LittleHead of Lame Deer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
