Shirley was born on October 13, 1945, in Vancouver, WA, to James Chandler and Mary Skinner. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Mary (Skinner) and Walter Denny. She attended Flandreau Indian School until her graduation in 1963. Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Anthony Woods, in 1963, and the couple made their home in Rocky Boy, raising their five biological children there. Shirley attended Northern Montana College for two years, receiving her associate's degree in social work. The couple adopted two other children, whom they loved and raised as their own. Over the years, Shirley worked at Vocational Rehabilitation as a counselor and at the radio station in Havre. The couple settled in Great Falls with their two youngest in 1997. For the most part, Shirley stayed home, raising her wonderful children and taking care of the home for her family. Tony passed away in July, and Shirley was lost without him. She loved spending time with her beloved family, and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She also enjoyed beading, listening to music, including country and some golden oldies, and reading all novels by Oka & VC Andrews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Woods, Sr.; her daughter Shirlin Woods; her brother Alfred Chandler; her parents, Walter and Mary (Skinner) Denny; and her biological father James Chandler. She is survived by her sons, Anthony (Michelle) Woods Jr. of Rocky Boy, Brian Woods of Denver, CO, Troy Woods of Polson, Shawn (Marsha) Woods of Denver, CO, and Chandler (Ashley) Woods of Great Falls; her daughter Chandris Woods of Great Falls; her 15 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; her sister Ona Denny of Burlington, ID; her brother Alex Denny of Rocky Boy; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and other extended family and friends.
