Obituary

Sharon L. Schmockel, 66, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Friday, August 22, 2025.  Services are pending with Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Sharon was born on January 11, 1959, in Havre to Richard and Teresa (Small) Schmockel.  She was raised in Havre, attending school there.  Following her school years, Sharon married Leon Azure, and the couple had a daughter before he passed away in 1980.  She worked a couple of jobs before becoming an addiction recovery counselor, working her way to the position of Director of the facilities in Havre and Rocky Boy, a position she held for over 10 years.  The stress of her job convinced Sharon to make a change, so she went to BNSF as a laborer for a few years, and then moved on to Smoker Friendly, where she stayed until COVID convinced her to retire.  She married Joe Bell, and he passed away in 2009.

Sharon was an outspoken, reserved woman who seemed to know everyone.  She was direct, but she also possessed a wonderful sense of humor.  She enjoyed cooking, socializing at the casino, and watching her westerns, reality shows, and true crime.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacey Azure; husbands, Leon Azure and Joe Bell; parents, Richard and Teresa Schmockel; siblings, JoAnne Arkinson, Leland Arkinson, Joe Arkinson, Cynthia Schmockel, and Bill Schmockel; and various nieces and nephews.

Sharon is survived by her grandchildren, Robert J. (Whitney) Meiwald, Jr., Aubrey Meiwald, and Nevaeh Chinadle; great-grandchildren, Capri, Ice, Leon, and Junior; sister, Marcella (Scott) Knaub; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
