Sanford Clarence Azure, 76, passed away October 4, 2012 at Northern Montana Care Center due to cancer. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life is to be held at a later date with the scattering of his ashes in the Little Rocky Mountains. Holland and Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Sanford was born on April 5, 1936 to Peter R. and Mary Josephine (Lavadure) Azure. He attended Zortman School and the Chemawa Indian School in Salem, OR. Sanford joined the Army in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1961. He worked for the Pagasus Gold Mining Co. until his retirement. Sanford was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing, taking pictures, and filming videos. Sanford was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Mary Azure, and his sisters Bernice Azure and Ethel Kinkaid. He is survived by his sisters Cora Kelsey of Billings, MT, Amelia Rasmussen of Zortman ,MT, and Della Azure of Pendleton, OR; his brothers Phillip Azure of Vancouver, WA, Robert Azure of Zortman, MT, David Azure of Vancouver, WA, Floyd Azure of Zortman, MT and Maynard Azure of Spokane WA; his aunt Meda (Lavadure) Larson of Sequim, WA ; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
