Samuel Jacob
Boushie
May 23, 1969 — Oct 4, 2026
Box Elder, Montana
Samuel J. Boushie, 57, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Sam was born on May 23, 1969, in Great Falls, and was quickly adopted by Ben and Mary Ann (St. Marks) Boushie. He was raised in Hays, attending school there, and worked as a farm and ranch hand as a young man. There, he also had his first relationship, which resulted in the birth of his first son. When he returned home to care for his father, he met Margaretta, the love of his life. The couple married in the late 1980s, and with his marriage, Sam was blessed with a stepson. He and Margaretta soon had two of their own, and he later adopted Tawnya Four Souls, as well. Sam and Margaretta shared a true bond that spanned decades. They loved each other fiercely, and fought for their relationship every day. For many years, Sam drove a bus for Rocky Boy and Box Elder Schools. There, he was absolutely dedicated to the children on his bus, often spending extra time ensuring that the children, especially the special needs children, made it home safely. When his daughter began a relationship with Davis Denny, Sam took him into his heart as his son, and proceeded to become his best friend. They were constantly together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Ann Boushie; brother, George Boushie; sisters, Barbara Vaughn and Eva Carter; nephews, Swede M. Boushie and Hunter Strait; and numerous other relatives.
Sam is survived by his wife, Margaretta Boushie of Box Elder; children, Justin Boushie, Steven (Julie) LaFromboise of Missoula, Christina (Davis Denny) Boushie of Box Elder, Samuel B. Boushie of Havre, and Tawnya Four Souls of Billings; grandchildren, Bryce, Leslie, Devon, Zeke, Jaz, Rayne, Jayshona, DeMarco, Valvah, Piyosew, Azula, and Sofia, with one due in December; his remaining siblings; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
