Obituary

Ruth Marie Vukasin (Culbertson), 78, a long time Montana resident, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in Lakewood, CO.  Cremation has taken place. At her request a private family service will be held at a later date.

Ruth was born on November 28, 1944, in Wallace, ID and was the second child of two children born to Walter and Catherine (Kay) Culbertson. She attended school in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1962.

Ruth met her lifelong love and partner Robert (Bob) Vukasin in 1960 while babysitting Bob's nephews and niece. Ruth and Bob married on April 14, 1962, in Great Falls, MT.  They were married for 49 years until Bob passed away in September of 2011. Together they were blessed with 4 children that Ruth loved dearly. The family lived in Great Falls until they moved to Havre in 1973.

In 1977, Bob and Ruth started their own electrical business, Future Electric, Inc. where Ruth was the office manager until they retired in 2003.

As avid bowlers, Bob and Ruth bought the bowling center, K-Lanes/Spare Time Lounge in Rudyard Montana which they operated together for 22 years. During that time, they met and bowled with many wonderful people. Ruth especially enjoyed working with and teaching bowling to the youth in the community.

Ruths family came first in her life. She cherished all the time she spent with her family, especially holidays, birthdays, vacations and special events.  She cherished spending time with her grandchildren over the years. Ruth had many fun adventures with her childhood friend Bonnie and with her family traveling to multiple bowling tournaments including the annual ABC national bowling tournaments.

Ruth was adventurous and had a variety of interests and hobbies. She was a great swimmer and loved water sports including waterskiing and rafting.   Ruth loved doing adventurous things including amusement park rides, trying new foods, traveling to new places and participating in new endeavors.  Among other interests Ruth liked playing pool, darts and cards with friends and Family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father Walter, her mother Kay and stepfather Robert (Bob) Syth, husband of 49 years Bob Vukasin, 2 sons, Mark and Robert (Rob); and a brother, Lyle Culbertson.

Ruth is survived by one son, Rex Vukasin (Melanie), a daughter Cindy Vukasin, three grandchildren, Mark Vukasin, Christopher Vukasin (Katie), Colin Vukasin, one great grandchild, Ashlynn and many nieces and nephews. Ruth is also survived by her lifelong best friend and sister by choice, Bonnie (Dagel) McGowan.  Memorials in Ruth's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's association at alz.org.
