Obituary

Ruby Worstell, 86, of Havre passed away Tuesday, Dec 30, 2025, at home with her family beside her. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24th at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church in Havre, MT with Rev. Carl Ellis officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service.

Ruby was born on April 3, 1939, as the sixth of seven children born to James and Pauline (Morton) Davey. She was raised on the family farm in southeast Havre and attended the Davey School during her early years. At age 10, the family moved to town. Ruby graduated from Havre High School in 1957 and later attended Northern Montana College, where she met R. Cameron Worstell in a dance class. Ruby married Cameron on April 3, 1959, in Havre, beginning a marriage marked by devotion, humor, family and love.

Ruby held many roles throughout her life but the ones she treasured the most were being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. While helping to run the many family business ventures, she also raised four busy and sometimes adventurous children.  As her children and grandchildren grew, she reminded them all to "Live it Up", a philosophy she lived by every day.

Ruby held a quiet faith and showed that faith through a life of kindness, generosity, love and example rather than words. She volunteered with Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen, the Boys & Girls Club, the Van Orsdel Methodist Church, along with other organizations. Throughout her cancer treatments, Ruby met both good days and hard ones with strength and gratitude.

"Live it Up" meant loving her family without limits, attending music concerts and faithfully watching sports - whether it was watching her children's involvement in sports or cheering on her favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Montana State Bobcats. She enjoyed many trips with Cameron and her family. At home, Ruby found joy in simpler pleasures. She crocheted hundreds of afghans that wrapped family and friends in warmth and love, was an avid reader and spent countless hours working jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed cross stitching and most recently discovered a new favorite hobby in diamond art. For many years she was a part of a bowling league, enjoying both the game and camaraderie. She never missed sending the perfect birthday card, always choosing just the right words. Ruby knew when to listen, when to offer advice, and when to make everyone laugh through every season of her life. Her grandchildren proudly say she is the most tech savvy grandma ever.

A fiercely competitive card player with a sharp mind, Ruby was quick to remind her family that "friendly" games were anything but. She was the steady center of her family, making sure that everyone stayed close, cared for one another, always remembering how much they were loved, and taught us to never hold a grudge. She will be missed beyond words.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Bob Davey and Jim Davey; sisters Grace Crandell and Jewel Nickey; and great-grandson Leandro Hernandez.

Survivors include her daughters Paula Brady (Tom) of Havre, Terri Linn (Donni) of Saco, MT; Patti Culver (Kerry) of Moses Lake, WA; son Dave Worstell (Jill Brookings) of Billings, MT; sister Frankie Bennett of Billings, MT; brother Richard Davey (Julie) of Meridian, ID; 8 grandchildren Kimberly (Tim) Guardipee of Saco, MT; Logan (Jessalee) Beilke of Omaha, NE; Brian Linn of Williston, ND; Adrienne (Macario) Hernandez of Moses Lake, WA; Derek (Courtney) Beilke of Bismarck, ND; Andy Culver of Moses Lake, WA; Daniel Culver of Moses Lake, WA; and Shay Worstell of Chicago, IL; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
