Obituary

Ruby Gopher, 89, passed away due to natural causes on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.  Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.  Please visit Ruby's online memorial page and leave a message of condolence for her family at www.hollandbonine.com .

Ruby was born on September 28, 1931, in Rocky Boy to Simon and Mary (Walking Child) Roasting Stick.  She was raised in Rocky Boy, attending Parker School through the 8 th grade.  Following her school years, Ruby helped her mother and brother with their households, adding one more – her own – in 1960, when she married Charles Gopher.  The couple had four children, and Ruby spent all of her time caring for her home and family, while still helping out her mother and brother.

Ruby was a shy, quiet woman who loved to bead, especially moccasins, and play handgame.  She was a buckskin jingle dress dancer, and looked forward to Powwow every year.  Ruby was a talented herbal healer, and was very vocal in her role as a foster parent and as a foster child advocate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gopher; daughter, Marilyn Gopher; parents Simon and Mary Roasting Stick; and siblings, Johnny Roasting Stick and Dorothy Clark.

Ruby is survived by her children, Leah (Pete) LaMere, and Jonathan and Ona Gopher, and her favorite son, Michael Cork, all of Rocky Boy; adopted sons, Luke Parisian of Box Elder and Bill Blake, Jr. of Havre; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Theresa Tendoy of Rocky Boy; sister-in-law, Georgianna Roasting Stick of Rocky Boy; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
