Roy was born on May 11, 1927, in Hanks, ND, to Peter and Esther (Sovold) Christenson, and was raised on the family farm outside of Hanks. Following his school years, Roy enlisted in the US Army, and served in the Korean War until he was honorably discharged from the service. Following his return home, Roy moved to Glasgow and worked for a short time for Elmer Johnson Plumbing before purchasing the Buckhorn Bar in Wheeler, and he relocated to Wheeler. Roy remained in Wheeler for several years, and while there began fishing commercially on Fort Peck Lake. He also began working as a plumber during the off season. Eventually, Roy stopped fishing commercially, and simply operated his thriving plumbing business, which was located in Nashua. He retired from plumbing, and relocated to Idaho Falls, ID, for a short time. Making his way back to Montana, Roy then moved to Fort Benton, where he remained for just a couple of years. He moved on to settle in Big Sandy for a number of years to be closer to his sons and grandchildren, and spent his last three years in Havre. Roy enjoyed playing cribbage and pinochle, hunting, fishing, golfing, watching older comedy shows and westerns, and reading his aviation magazines and war history books. He loved playing with his grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Esther Christenson; his sister Evelyn Herness; and his brothers Paul and Gordon Christenson. He is survived by his sons Peter (Sarah) and Jason (Laci Keller) Christenson, all of Havre; his grandchildren Gavin and Tryg Christenson and Emerald Tinsley; his siblings Ellavon Weber of Phoenix, AZ, Phyllis (Stan) Newton and Dale (Darla) Christenson, all of Billings, and David (Cindy) Christenson of Glasgow; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
