Obituary

Rosetta M. Montes, 69, of Rocky Boy passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes. Rosetta was born on April 14, 1945 in Fort Belknap, Montana, to Bernard and Margaret (LaFromboise) Montes. She was raised in Rocky Boy, graduating from Flandreau Indian School in 1963. Following graduation, she worked at Havre Laundry for a while, and then moved to Harlem and worked at Brown's Market. In 1982, she married Garry Adams, and over the years, she managed the various businesses she and Garry owned. The couple divorced in 2004, and Rosetta returned to Rocky Boy with her daughters to be with family. She began managing Gramma's Market in 2004, and moved on to managing Bear Paw Energy in 2010, retiring on October 1, 2014. Rosetta was a wonderful woman with a quick wit and a great sense of humor, who had a boisterous, infectious laugh. She enjoyed going to movies, reading, collecting antiques and anything Coca-Cola, working on her DIY projects, traveling, dancing, and listening to older country music. She was family-oriented and very strong, but was generous and giving, with a big heart, who was always willing to go above and beyond for those who needed her. Rosetta was, above all, a lady. She was preceded in death by her son Adrian Montes; her granddaughter Garilee Henderson; her parents Bernard and Margaret Montes; her grandparents Charles and Beatrice LaFromboise; and her former spouse Garry Adams. Rosetta is survived by her son Theodore (Maimie)Montes of Rocky Boy; her daughters Sybil (Frank) Henderson, Crystal (Mark) Cole, and Stormy (Bryant) Eagleman, all of Rocky Boy; her sisters Bernice McGuire, Carol Campbell, and Donna "Susie" (Charlie) Hay, all of Rocky Boy; her brothers Richard Montes of Lawrence, KS, James (Lydia) Montes of Rocky Boy, and Bernie (Betty) Montes of Salt Lake City, UT; her 10 grandchildren; her 18 great-grandchildren; her aunt Louise Bautista of Gilroy, CA; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
