Rodney was born on August 5, 1936, in Havre to Ambrose and Gertrude (Sadler) Phares. He spent the first few years of his life in Havre, and when he was 3 years old, his family moved to California. They later divorced, and in 1966, Rodney moved with his daughters to Oregon where he worked as a foreman in a paper manufacturing plant. He later married his wife, Molly Jo, and the couple made their retirement home in Havre. She passed away in 2007.
Rodney was a private man to those he didn't know, but a very loving man to his friends and family. He was funny, and loved to joke and tease. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his three daughters, Stephanie Spooner, Cynthia Gamble, & Melanie Cunningham; wife, Molly Jo Phares; parents, Ambrose and Gertrude Phares; brother, Richie; and sister Donna.
