Robert Paul
Miles
February 16, 1941 – June 7, 2025
Robert Paul "Bob" Miles, 84, passed into eternity on June 7, 2025, at the Northern Montana Care Center after a short illness. Cremation has taken place, and services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Bob's family has suggested memorial donations be made in his memory to the American Legion Post #11, PO Box 1467, Havre, MT 59501, or VFW Post #497, PO Box 497, Havre, MT 59501. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
Bob was born on February 16, 1941, to Paul and Leona (Hass) Schroeder in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was always proud of being 100% German. His parents divorced, and Leona married Chester Miles, who adopted the three older children. Later, the couple added Sandy and Janet to the Miles family. Bob was always interested in cowboys and baseball. Being in Milwaukee, he and his brother had access to the Milwaukee Brewers Stadium for "nose bleeder seats", as he called them. When he was older, he had a chance to go to Wyoming and work on a dude ranch for the summer. Bob loved it. When he graduated from Lutheran high school, west he went. That didn't last long, because the boy ate too much. So back to Milwaukee to enlist in the Army, where he served at Fort Brag, trained at jump school, and was deployed to the Philippines and then Germany. Bob's knee was broken in a supposedly non-contact karate match that put him behind the desk, which was not for him. Upon his return to the States, he became a salesman of AAA Insurance, cars, mobile homes, and Shaklee. Then came his calling as an investigator, which he retired from. He investigated for many law firms that protected railroad workers under the FELA law. There, he met many railroad workers that were his friends for life.
He met Carla Holden in Havre, and they were married August 27, 1982.
Bob is survived by Carla; their son, Cody (Aricka); grandson, Casey; stepchildren, Bill (Brittany) Blake, Jr. and Krista (Lucas & Brandon) Shaw; brother, Gary of Milwaukee, WI; sisters, Connie (Russ) Ware of Grunfeld, WI, and Sandy (Jim) Bauer of Germantown, WI; nieces, Tiffany (Arman) Armekan, Rachael (Kevin) Carlton, Leanne (Aron) Graf, and Taylor (Karlyn) Bauer; and numerous cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Jesse.
Burial will follow at a later date when Carla follows him.
