Obituary

Robert E. O. "Bob" Larson passed away from natural causes at the age of 69 on June 23, 2026. He was born on July 26, 1956, in Havre, Montana to Edward Ole and Donna Elaine (Cornella) Larson.

Bob graduated from Havre High School and then followed in his father’s footsteps by working for Burlington Northern Railroad. He also proudly earned his bachelor's degree from Montana State University–Northern. In 1980, he married Cheryl Cole. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Shonda, in 1996. In 1999, Bob and his family made Bozeman their home, where he became an active member of the community.

Those that knew Bob will remember his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and the fact that he loved to talk. He was a true gentle soul, he led with compassion, offered kindness without judgment, and found joy in connecting with others.

Above all, Bob cherished his family. He fiercely loved his daughter, Shonda, and treasured every moment they shared together. He also found immense happiness in being an involved uncle, creating special memories with his nieces and nephews, and celebrating each chapter of their lives.

Faith was the foundation of Bob's life. He was a lifelong, devoted member of First Lutheran Church, where he loved his congregation and his Lord. After moving to Billings, he found another welcoming church family that brought him great comfort and joy. His love for his Lord was evident in the way he lived every day.

Bob believed in giving back to his community. He was an active participant in local organizations, serving on numerous church boards and contributing to the DUI Task Force. He dedicated his time and energy to making his community a better place, never seeking recognition for his efforts.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Shonda (Rustin); grandson Carson; his friend, Cheryl; his sisters, Patti (Jack) Solomon, Debi (Jerry) D'Hooge, and Joenne Courtney; and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Donna Larson.

Bob's legacy is one of unwavering faith, unconditional kindness, laughter, and love. Those fortunate enough to know him will remember his thoughtful conversations, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he met. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the example he set through his compassion, kindness, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

His family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace, embraced by the everlasting love of his Lord.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel.
