Robert Lee "Hoppity" Duran, 73, passed away due to natural causes on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Northern Montana Hospital.  Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. and his Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., all on Monday, May 22, 2023,  at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, with Father Joseph Tran officiating.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Hoppity was born on January 18, 1950, in Fort Belknap to Leo and Elizabeth Mary (St. Pierre) Duran, Sr.  He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending Rocky Boy and Box Elder schools until his enlistment in the US Army after his Junior year.  Hoppity served in the Army until his honorable discharge in 1970, and then returned home to Rocky Boy where he worked as a wildland firefighter.  During the off season, Hoppity worked through TERO in various positions and at the Rocky Boy Senior Center.

Hoppity was an upbeat and cheerful man who enjoyed camping, fishing, listening and dancing to country music.  He was a very active man who loved to play basketball, baseball, and volleyball with kids and taking them hiking.  Hoppity really liked watching Westerns and loved to tease his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his former wife and lifelong friend, Roxanne Doney; parents, Leo and Elizabeth Duran, Sr.; siblings, Clifford Duran, Caroline Molyneaux, and Henry Duran; and several other family members.

Hoppity is survived by his siblings, Agnes Morsette and Elaine (Earl) Nault, all of Rocky Boy, Wilford "Leo" (Sherry) Duran of Great Falls, Manuel (Linda) Duran, Roselee Lindseth, and Shirley Descharm, all of Rocky Boy, Joseph (Marlene) Duran of Fort Hall, ID, Vina Duran of Rocky Boy, and Richard Duran of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
