Ricky was born on March 19, 1960, in Fort Belknap to Joe and Naomi (Turn Toes) Hinkle.  He was raised in Fort Benton, attending school there.  Following his high school years, Ricky moved to Great Falls and began working as a roofer, a profession at which he excelled.  He married Debbie Cohn, and they had a daughter before later divorcing.  Some time later, he met Claudia Hanson and returned to Fort Benton for several years.  The couple had two sons before separating, at which time Ricky returned to Great Falls.  He met Mona Wells in 2002, and in 2007, the couple moved to Havre where they remained until his death.

Ricky adored his dog, Griz, and he liked taking walks, playing the machines, and spending time with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Naomi Hinkle; sister, Pam Meyer; and brother, Shan Hinkle.

Ricky is survived by his children, Molly, Joel, Nichole, Matthew, and Jeremiah; five grandchildren; significant other, Mona Wells; siblings, Mike (Debbie) Hinkle and Rod Hinkle, all of Great Falls, and Nanette Peak of Hays; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
