Richard P. Podrez, 66, of Havre, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013, at his residence due to complications from diabetes. Cremation has taken place, and graveside services will be held in Butternut, Wisconsin, at a later date. The family has requested that memorials be made in Richard's name to the charity of the donor's choice. Richard was born on January 19, 1947 to Leon and Mildred (Frankiewicz) Podrez in Park Falls, Wisconsin. He was raised in Butternut, graduating from high school there. In 1972 he married Catherine Kilger, and the couple's union was blessed with 3 children. The couple later divorced. Richard worked as a self-employed logger in Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Idaho. In June 2000, he married Caroline Wattam in St. Anthony, Idaho, and the couple made their home in Havre. They, too, later divorced, but their affection for each other remained, and Caroline cared for Richard the last 2 years until his death. Richard enjoyed fishing, collecting military paraphernalia, gardening, watching the History Channel, and visiting with friends and his brother David. He also loved gardening, especially poppies and sunflowers. He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Mildred Podrez. Richard is survived by his daughter Debbie (Jim) Beining of WI; his sons, Mark (Laurie) Podrez and Richard (Renee) Podrez, all of WI, and Jermiah Bodensteiner of OR; his seven grandchildren; his brother David Podrez of MN; his sisters Phyllis (Ron) Presl and Carol (Jon) Moellendorf, all of WI, and Sally (Ken) Kranik of CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
