Reuben "Muc" McDowell, "Thunderbird Child" (Pe Ye So Ah Wash Sis), 47, passed away in Portland Oregon.  Wake services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, all at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the Box Elder Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Muc was born on October 17, 1975, in Havre to Daniel Friede, Sr. and Rowena McDowell.  He was raised in Rocky Boy and Box Elder, attending schools in both and at Chemawa Indian School.  In 1993, Muc obtained his GED.  He began a relationship with Jenal Walker, and the couple had three children before separating in the early 2000s.  For many years, Muc worked as a tattoo artist, wildland firefighter, and in construction in Rocky Boy, Great Falls, Salt Lake City, Colorado, California, Georgia, and Texas, ending up in Oregon, where he has been for the past several years.

Muc enjoyed playing his guitar, gambling, running the streets, ogling the "pretty girls", and living life to the fullest.  When he was younger, he really loved spending time with his children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Friede, Sr.; grandparents; nephew, Cruz Friede; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Muc is survived by his children, Mercedes (Ricky Clark, Jr.) McDowell of Havre, Alicia McDowell of Everett, WA, and Cain (Autumn Striker) McDowell of Havre; five grandchildren, Aaliyah Clark, Carter McDowell, Serenity Big Knife, Maylee Striker, and Emma McDowell; mother, Rowena McDowell of Box Elder; stepmom, Darla Friede of Box Elder; siblings, Vanity (Orlando Sandoval, Jr.) LaRocque of San Diego, CA, and Daniel Friede, Jr., Lindsey Friede, Marisa Friede , and Gabe Jordan, all of Box Elder; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
