Reed (Dutch) William Nalder, Jr., 72, passed away on December 10, 2014 at the Big Sandy Medical Center due to natural causes. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014 at the LDS church with Bishop Acor officiating. The family has suggested memorials in Reed's name be made to the Disabled Veterans of America or to the donor's choice. Dutch was born on September 3, 1942 in Layton, Utah to Reed and Margretha Nalder. He was the eldest of fourteen children. Dutch joined the Navy in 1961, serving on the ship the USS Jerome. He was honorably discharged in 1963. Dutch was a brick mason; traveling around the country building LDS churches. After contracting an infection forcing him to retire from brick masonry, he went to ISU and obtained his degree in computer technology. In 1971, Dutch married Yvonne Forward. The couple had three children, Yvette, Annette and Michael, and raised their grandson Beau. Dutch loved anything outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. His favorite times were when he took the kids with him to share his love of the outdoors. Dutch was a lifetime member of the NRA. He also liked to play poker and blackjack online. Dutch was preceded in death by his son, Michael Thomas; his parents, Reed (Pappy) and Margretha; his sisters, Lorraine and Karen; and his brother Dennis. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Big Sandy; his daughters, Yvette Nalder of Lewistown and Annette Nalder of Big Sandy; his adopted son, Beau Nalder of Big Sandy; sisters, Sandra Hadley and Diane Lester of Idaho, and Debra Chadwick of Utah; brothers, Alan Nalder of Georgia, Blaine Nalder , Jerry Nalder, Randy Nalder, Rodney Nalder , Calvin Nalder , and Curt Nalder all of Idaho; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
