Reece Troy
Morsette
September 6, 2000 – August 18, 2016
Our special angel, Reece Troy Morsette (Blue Thunderbird Boy), left this world on Thursday, August 18th at 7 p.m. Reece was born in Havre, Montana on September 5, 2000 to Michael Morsette and Lisa Henderson. He was raised by his grandmother, Theodora Morsette.
Reece attended Box Elder High School for the past two years and would have been an 11th grader this year. He enjoyed all sports including basketball, track and rodeo. Reece was on the rodeo trail since he was twelve years old and participated in junior bull riding. During this period of time he was welcomed in to the big rodeo family. He was extremely proud of a buckle he won in bull riding in 2015 at the Fort Peck Rodeo. Earlier this year, Reece suffered a traumatic brain injury and wasn't able to compete in summer rodeos. During the recent Rocky Boy Celebration, Reece competed in the Ultimate Warrior contest placing third.
Over the past summer, Reece worked for K & A Construction. He was very proud of his accomplishments laying carpet and other tasks related to remodeling homes. He was a hard worker and loved to share his carpentry expertise with family knowing his papa was watching him.
Reece was an active member of the AIBL Chapter of Box Elder High School. He spoke of the wonderful memories that he had during his trip with his classmates to Phoenix, Arizona this spring.
While living with his grandmother, he always helped her with everything. He enjoyed cooking and volunteered to make a meal once a week. When his papa was ill Reece assisted his grandma in caring for him, running errands and being his cane with his papa putting his hand on his head for support. His favorite quote was, "It's not the arrow, it's the Indian."
Reece is survived by his parents Mike Morsette and Lisa (Melvin Morsette, Jr.) Henderson, his three brothers Austin Morsette of Havre, Terrance and Jon of Rocky Boy, adopted parents Aaron Henry and Misty Tatsey, adopted sister Aarianna Henry, his very special Aunt Kaycee Henry and Grandmother Theodora Ann Morsette, Grandparents Linda and Randall Parker and Frank and Sybil Henderson. He was preceded in death by his grandfather (Papa) Jon "Cubby" Morsette, grandmother Anna Albert, aunt Mona Albert, and uncle Michael Albert. Reece is also survived by numerous grandmas, cousins, uncles, and aunties.
Wake services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2016, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016, all at the Box Elder High School. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
