Rachel D.
Hofer
August 6, 1939 – May 28, 2025
Rachel D. Hofer, 85, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Wake services will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, all at East End Colony Church. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Rachel was born on August 6, 1939, in New Dayton, Alberta, Canada, the oldest of 8 children born to Joseph and Rachel (Hofer) Wipf. The family lived at New Dayton until 1950, when they relocated to New Miami, relocating once again in 1959 to Martinsdale Colony. In 1983, Rachel married David Hofer at East End Colony, where she spent the rest of her life. There she worked as a kindergarten teacher for many years. She also assisted with chores including gardening and butchering.
Rachel was an outgoing woman who loved to knit and was an avid reader. She adored children and flowers, and she possessed an innate ability to give massages. Her memory was as sharp as a tack until the end.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hofer; parents, Joseph and Rachel Wipf; sister, Katie Wipf; and brother, Joe Wipf.
Rachel is survived by her siblings, Susie and Peter (Dorothy) Wipf, all of Sunset Colony, Elizabeth (John) Hofer and David (Rebecca) Wipf, all of Martinsdale Colony, and Will (Rhonda) Wipf of Lovell, Wyoming; her loving caretaker, Clara Waldner; and her numerous nieces, nephews, and adopted family at East End Colony, all of whom will miss her dearly.
