Obituary

Ona Lee Denny, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 23,
2025, at the age of 65. She was born on July 2, 1960, in Havre, Montana, and grew up on the
Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation.

Ona attended schools both on the Reservation and in Havre, graduating from Havre High School
in 1978. She went on to pursue her education at Northern Montana College and the University of
Montana in Missoula.

In her youth and teenage years, Ona was a proud and gifted women's fancy dancer, traveling
widely to powwows across the United States and Canada. She earned many titles, crowns, and
championships, carrying herself with grace, strength, and the beauty of her culture.

Ona was known for her radiant presence—she lit up any room she entered. A strikingly beautiful
woman, she was instantly liked and loved by those fortunate enough to meet her. She lived life
fully and on her own terms, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Denny; her husband, Wayne Pelton;
and siblings John, Alex, Tommy, Alfred Sr., Shirley, Sheila, and Dolores.

Ona is survived by her son, Kordy, and grandsons, Luke, Brock, and Nolan; her sister, Eunice; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will continue to honor her memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Box Elder at 11:00 a.m. on
Saturday, September 6, 2025.

She will be remembered always for her laughter, her strength, and her love.
