Niles Lyman Wolf Chief (Mouse) was born on December 26th, 1970, to Ruth and Lyman Wolf Chief Sr. in Havre, MT.

Niles is survived by his wife Melissa Lonebear (Lame Deer), his parents Lyman and Ruth Wolf Chief Sr (both of Rocky Boy); his children Christopher WolfChief, Aaron Wolf Chief, Niles (Stephanie) Wolf Chief Jr., Norman Wolf Chief, Sonny McCovey, Elias (Esther) McCovey, Kaden( Zoey) Campbell, Karson Campbell, Kort Campbell, Emily McCovey, Sarah (Manny Leon Sr. ) McCovey-Leon, Kasey (Isaiah) Goodluck, Kori (Kevin) Littlebear; his siblings Lyman (Jennifer) Wolf Chief Jr, Trina (Kevin Kirkaldie) Wolf Chief, Jenson (Rebecca) Wolf Chief, James (Sheila) Gibson, Arielle (Dustynn) Sutherland, Aricka (Jaron Calf Robe) Wolf Chief, John Wolf Chief, and Richard Houle; numerous nieces and nephews, and infinite grandchildren.

Niles was raised and attended schools in Rocky Boy, Busby, and Box Elder, but a Box Elder Bear at heart. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army in 1988 and was honorably discharged in 1992 (Enlistment- Arizona). He also served in the Montana National Guard.

Niles worked various jobs in Arizona and Montana- serving in the military, working as a police officer for the Chippewa Cree Tribe in Rocky Boy, MT and he loved working as an elder advocate for the Tohona O'Odham Nation in Tucson, AZ. Before his passing he was working in facilities for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe in Lame Deer, MT and loved all his coworkers, in which he took under his wing.

A Montana boy at heart, Niles found the mountains calling him home, along with yearning to be closer to his parents.  In 2022, he returned home for a short time where he found his strength and peace while working as a Veteran's Outreach Case Manager at Great Plains Veterans Services Center from April 2022 to January 2023, dedicating his time and heart to supporting fellow veterans.  Beyond his service Niles was also an avid sports fan, passionate about his dedication and devotion to his beloved Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.  Niles also thoroughly enjoyed following sports of all kinds, but especially basketball.  His love for sports wasn't just about the competition - it was about teamwork, dedication, and the joy of the game. Niles was proud to make history, as the first quarterback for the Rocky Boy Stars to ever throw a touch down pass, which was thrown to and caught by his little brother Lyman Wolf Chief Jr.  In 2020, he was immensely honored and proud to be named as a GOAT in the state of Montana for basketball while playing for the Rocky Boy Northern Stars featured in the Great Falls Tribune.

In August 2022, his life took an 'about face' when he met the love of his life, Melissa Lonebear in a chance encounter.  As fate would have it, Melissa and Niles were united in marriage on April 21, 2023, in Lame Deer, MT.  This marriage united two loving souls, which they shared with their children, grandchildren, friends, and family. Everyone that knew them shared in their love. Niles showered his wife with love and affection; he was her everything and his heart beat for Melissa. Niles was adored by all the babies in his family. He was a proud grandpa and loved and doted on all his grandchildren and babies. He was always found with a baby in his arms.
