Obituary

Nick Tomaskie, Jr., 74, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Saturday, April 23, 2022.  Cremation has taken place, and at Nick's request, no services will be held.  His family has suggested memorial donations be made in his memory to charitable organizations benefitting children's activities.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Nick was born on April 23, 1948, in Great Falls to Nick and Vivian (Bannen) Tomaskie.  He was raised in Shelby, graduating from Shelby High School in 1966.  He continued his education at Western Montana College and then MSU-Bozeman, obtaining first his Bachelor and then his Master's degree in education.  Nick taught for a few years in Inverness, soon moving to Harlem High School, where he taught English, history, and driver's education for the remainder of his career.  After retirement, he settled in Havre to be near his daughter and grandchildren.

Nick was an outgoing, happy man who enjoyed miniature golf.  He was an avid reader and a real jokester.  He loved kids, and supported kids' activities, especially baseball, whether his family was involved in them or not.  He was a true family man who treasured his time spent with them.  Nick supported his children and grandchildren, attending all their activities.  He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Nick truly reveled in his involvement in their lives.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nick Tomaskie III in 2014; father, Nick Tomaskie; and nephew, Kevin Tomaskie.

Nick is survived by his daughter, Kasi (Patrick) Glidden of Havre; grandchildren, Sierra Flammond of Great Falls, Tyler Sexton of Havre, and Robert (Abigail) Furtney of Helena; great-grandchildren, Tavin Myers, Jessica Sexton, and Brynlee Clark; moher, Vivian Tomaskie of Havre; brother, Alex (Carlie) Tomaskie of Havre; three nieces; and two nephews.
