Myrle Christina "Chris" Holmberg, 74, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Montana, of natural causes. Chris was born on July 8, 1937, in Riverside, California, to David and Manila (Anderson) Cairney. She was married over 20 years to her beloved Dick Holmberg, who passed away in 1993. She also spent over 35 years teaching 1st grade in Monterey Park, California, and continued her passion for children's literacy into retirement by working on school libraries. She touched the lives of many. Chris was preceded in death by her husband Dick and her parents. She is survived by her "grandkids" Megan and William Boyle of Havre, Montana; her cousin Kirsten (Shane) Boyle of Havre, Montana; her sister-in-law Megan (Paul) Holmberg of the Pacific Northwest; her nephew Krister (Shephali) Holmberg of Sacramento, California; her great-nephew Evan Holmberg of Sacramento, California; and many other living family and friends. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012, at 625 4th Ave in Havre. Family graveside services will be held at the Sunrise Lawn Cemetery in Whittier, California, on Friday, June 22, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Baywood Park Community Church in Baywood Park, California. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations of a children's book be made to your local school's library in Chris' name.
