August 10, 1949 – January 11, 2022
Myra Jean Windy Boy, 72, passed away due to natural causes at Benefis Healthcare on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Wake services will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, and will continue until her funeral service which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thurs, January 13, 2022, all at the Rocky Boy Ceremonial Lodge with Jonathan and Alvin Windy Boy officiating. Burial will follow in the Windy Boy Family Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Myra was born on August 10, 1949, in Fort Belknap to John and Katherine (FirstRaised) Windy Boy. She was raised in Rocky Boy, attending schools there, and graduated from Havre High School in 1967. Following high school, Myra attended Eastern Montana College until 1968 and then Pittman Business College in Dallas, TX, for a year. She worked for the Department of Agriculture from 1969 until 1976, first as a benefits clerk, and then as a food stamp specialist. During this period, she also worked as the administrative secretary for the Rocky Boy Health Board from 1970 until 1986. Myra moved to Washington and married, but later divorced and returned to Rocky Boy, where she worked as the clerk of court for the Chippewa Cree Tribal Courts for a couple of years and then as the secretary at IHS for a year. She returned to college, this time at Stone Child, and obtained her Associate's Degree in Human Services with the clinical dependency option, graduating in 1996. In 2010, Myra took a position as the administrative assistant to the Rocky Boy Health Board, retiring in 2019.
She was a kind, loving, cheerful woman who always put others first, and she enjoyed playing the machines and attending cultural/ceremonial events. Her family was her everything, and she spent all the time she could with them, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Big Bow; parents, John and Katherine (First Raised) Windy Boy; brothers, Charles Tail Feathers, John Windy Boy, Jr.; sister, Kathy Gardipee; nephews, John Windy Boy, III, and Howard Racine, Jr.; niece, Jennifer Windy Boy; and grandparents, Standing on Cloud Windy Boy, Windy Boy, and Henry and Alice (Gone High) First Raised.
Myra is survived by her children, Tara and Maureen Jordan of Rocky Boy; grandchildren, Zander Jordan, Robert Cantrell, Jr., Shayna Jordan, Gabe Jordan, Lauren Cantrell, Layla Jordan, Rylie Parker, Angel Jordan, Howard Racine, III; siblings, Geri (Howard) Racine, Alvin (Jessica) Windy Boy, Everett Windy Boy, Jonathan Windy Boy, Valerie Windy Boy, Cheryl Windy Boy, Christine Daychild Parker and Henrietta Daychild, all of Rocky Boy, and Wesley (Ursula) Windy Boy of Tuba City, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Tina James, Taunia Racine, Marci Buckman, and Marissa Gardipee, Duwayne Otero, Diedre Otero, Vernon Otero, Tana Windy Boy, Jamie Windy Boy, Anthony Windy Boy, and Mose Windy Boy; and numerous cousins, and other extended family and friends.
