Obituary

Our beloved Misty, whose Indian name was Crow Woman and Four Winds Woman, left us on Sunday, November 6, 2011, to be with the angels after a long battle with cancer. She was born on August 13, 1972 to Louella (Fox) and Jeb Stiffarm, Donald Shortman. A wake service will be held on November 8 ,2011 at 5:00 p.m. at the Red Whip Center in Fort Belknap; another wake service on November 9, 2011 at the Hays/Lodge Pole High School at 5:00 p.m.; and a funeral mass service on November 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hays/Lodge Pole High School with Fathers Retzel and Erickson officiating. Holland and Bonine Funeral Home are in charge of services and arrangements. She attended mission grade school and graduated from Hays/Lodge Pole high school in 1990. She also attended college in Fort Belknap and MSU for a short time. She also went to fire school and attended various police trainings. Misty also worked for the Fort Belknap WIC program for a short time. She was a Police Officer for the Fort Belknap Police Department for many years. Misty also graduated from the Indian Police Academy in Artesia, NM. At the time of her death she was a cashier/floor attendant at the Fort Belknap Casino. Misty was a charismatic person, always smiling, willing to help in any situation. She was never without her awesome personality throughout her sickness. She was always smiling saying everything is going to be okay, because I'm one tuff nana. Misty leaves behind her six beautiful children and three grandchildren; Makayla (Daniel) First Raisesd of Pablo, Michael, Vincent, Sebrina, Marie, Julia of Harlem, Diondre Melcom, Desiree Angel and Daisha Francis First Raised, of Pablo. She also leaves behind her special friend Dean Wilkinson; her mother Lou Stiffarm of Hays; brothers Moses (Barb) of Hays, Milo (Jordana) of Minneapolis, MN, Marlon (Ettsy). Aaron Dewards, Duane (Chantel), Jeb Jr. and Dan, all of Hays; sisters Mella Stiffarm of Hays, Wendy (Kent) of Hays, Misti (Frank) of Huntley; her Shortman sisters and brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many life long friends. She had many traditional adopted brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ella and George Fox Sr. and Joe and Birdie Mae Shortman; uncle and aunts Preston, Quentin, Steve, George, Mary and Silvia; father Jeb Stiffarm; and infant son; and an infant grandson. Her extended families include Fox's, Stiffarm's, Bradley's, Whiteclay's, Laforge's, and Shortman's. Misty's favorite Disney characters were Mickey and Minnie Mouse. . .her favorite sayings to greet her favorite people was "Hello Princess" or "Hey, Chickie!"
