Maureen Paulette
Jordan-Cantrell
January 31, 1977 – January 19, 2023
Maureen Paulette Jordan-Cantrell, 45, went to join her beloved son, Tyler, & her mom, Myra on January 19th, 2023. Wake services will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Earl "Archie" Arkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Windy Boy Family Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Maureen was born on January 31, 1977, in Coulee Dam, Washington, to Michael Jordan and Myra Jean Windy Boy. She was raised in Rocky Boy, attending Rocky Boy Schools, where she played for the Rocky Boy Morning Stars. Maureen graduated from Rocky Boy High School as a member of the class of 1995. While in high school, she gave birth to her first child, Tyler Big Bow. In 2004, she married her loving husband Robert James Cantrell, Sr., and the couple had three children together. After the couple separated, Maureen had two more children. She also helped Robert raise his children and was a wonderful bonus mom to them for over 20 years.
Maureen was a kind, loving, cheerful woman who liked to tease. She was a hard worker throughout her life to ensure her family was always cared for. Her daughters describe her as bright, funny, and the best at giving good advice. She never judged and always used her life experience to help her family through tough times. She had the best taste in music and loved Lauren Hill, going so far as to name her first daughter after her. She enjoyed playing high school basketball, working on vehicles, gambling, and anything around the house that needed fixing, she would fix it. She would always help others. If anyone needed a job done around the house, she was the one to call to help. She loved spending time visiting her friends and family, especially being with her kids. Maureen valued deep and meaningful conversations, but always knew how to make you laugh. You hear all the time about people who would give the shirt off their back for people, but Maureen was the epitome of that, she never wanted to see people go without and would do her best to help. She would check on elders, help chop wood, change a tire, and pick up people walking in the cold. She loved fiercely and was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially for things most people shied away from. She was never afraid to speak up for others or what was right. She had a tough exterior, but a soft & giving heart.
Maureen's proudest accomplishments in life were her 6 beautiful children, Tyler, Robert (or Bubba as she lovingly called him), Lauryn, Layla, Howie, and Angel Starr. She was always so proud of them and was always doing her best for them. She loved them so much, and not even death can take that away. She will be here with her kids in all they do. Maureen has the spirit of a fighter, and that spirit will live on through her children and all that loved her. After she lost her son and mother, she lived with a broken heart, and although we are happy that she is reuniting with them, she will be greatly missed here by her kids and all that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tyler Big Bow; mother, Myra Windy Boy; grandparents, John and Katherine (First Raised) Windy Boy, James D. Jordan, and Paulette Emily Peone Jordan; great-grandparents, Walter Peone, Emily Freidlander-Peone, Henry and Alice (Gone High) First Raised, Standing on Cloud Windy Boy, and Windy Boy; uncles, Charlie Tail Feather, John "Big John" Windy Boy, Jr.; aunt, Kathy Windy Boy Gardipee; and cousins, John Windy Boy III, Howard Racine, Jr., Jennifer Windy Boy, and Alvin John Windy Boy, Jr.
