Mathias Ephram "Tiger" Evans, age 85, of Havre died on Monday, May 13, 2019. Cremation has taken place. A Vigil will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. and a Mass will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. all at Saint Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, Tiger has requested memorials be made to St. Jude's School or Havre Youth Baseball. Holland and Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Mathias Ephram Evans was born on February 24, 1934 to Clinton and Matilda (Junneges) Evans in Wabasso, MN. He was the oldest of 12 children. The family later moved to Rudyard Montana where Tiger attended school, graduating in 1952.
After graduation Tiger enlisted in the Army where he served as a cook. Upon returning home he married Doris "Lolly" Thompson in Havre on September 10, 1955. The couple had 6 children that they raised in Havre. Tiger owned and operated Evans' Conoco for over 23 years. Over the years he also worked at John Deer Implement and Evans' Optical as an optician.
Tiger was involved in St. Jude Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club, American Legion, Havre Central Boosters, Jaycees, and was Havre City Alderman for over 8 years. He was awarded Boss of the Year in 1971 and a Distinguished Service award in 1969. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching his children and grandchild in their sports.
Tiger was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maryanne Riley and Gloriann Mangold; and granddaughter, Paige Evans.
He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Lolly; children, Bob (Jamie), Jim (Brenda), Steve (Airyn), Don (Sabra), Patti (Brett) Hickman and Tom; grandchildren, Jordan (Trevor), Chase, Shelby, Laura (Andy), Samantha, Michael, Kristi, Kody, C.J. and Jaclyn; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Clint (Joan), Bill (Karan), Eugene, Arliss Keller, Cyrilla (Dick) Burrows, Teresa (Mike) Barthalomew, Nicki (Gary Furer), Val (Mike) Peterson, Julie (Dan) Holt; special friends, Buzz and Mary Pizzini and Hailey Lippy Reeves.
