Mary Ann
Schaub
September 5, 1933 – March 4, 2025
Mary Ann Schaub passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Reverend Terry R. Forke officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Mary's family has suggested memorial donations be made in her memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
Mary was born on September 5, 1933, in Erskine, Minnesota, the eighth child of Margaret (Lisk) and Leon Hayden. The family moved to the Fairview valley in Montana when she was young. Mary was always in good company with her nine siblings. She enjoyed spending time with her nephews and nieces, many of whom were similar in age.
Mary met and married Henry LaVern Schaub on February 19, 1950, and the couple moved to Havre, Montana, in 1951. They were blessed with four children: Daniel Schaub of Havre, Montana, Robert Schaub of Havre, Montana (deceased November 2023), Kathleen Kirby of Havre, Montana, and Laura Corbett of Boise, Idaho. Mary was a dedicated homemaker who spent her days raising her children and baking fresh bread, cinnamon rolls, and dozens of cookies. She and LaVern always had a project; they worked together to remodel, repair, and enhance their home. Their home was always welcoming and open to family and friends.
Mary was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Over the years, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and served on the youth Walther League. Mary helped host dozens of potluck dinners and prepared food for special occasions. She also prepared Christmas Eve treat bags filled with peanuts, ribbon candies, and a fresh orange.
Mary enjoyed being creative and busy. Over the years, she participated in ceramics and tole painting, along with making doll clothes and quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary lost LaVern in April 1993, but she remained in Havre, working, spending time with her grandchildren, and serving in her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern; her son, Robert; her parents; all five brothers, Richard, George, Robert, Raymond, and Wilbur; and two sisters, Gertie and Margaret.
Mary is survived by her two sisters, Barb Reidle of Fairview, Montana, and Doris Roe of Redding, California; three children, Daniel, Kathleen, and Laura; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.
They are plans for good and not evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
