Mary Ozella (Mahan) Odden, 79, went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2015. A family gathering is being held later this summer to celebrate the life of Mary. Mary was born June 25, 1935 in Bristow Oklahoma to Henry G. Haudy and Blanche Ethel Mahan. The family moved to Pontiac, Michigan in 1941 to find work. Mary spent her formative years going to school and church. Above all, the Mahan family was well known as a God-fearing Christian family. In 1951, Mary met a young boy that lived across the street. His name was Arthur Odden. They became best friends and then they fell in love. On October 18, 1955 they got married and she became Mary Ozella Odden. 1958 was a special year for Arthur and Mary; their first child was born. Bret was truly a gift from God. He filled their life with joy and happiness. In 1961 a second child Eric was born. Praise the Lord, he also was perfect. Then in 1962, God presented us with a daughter. If a woman is ever going to be happy, she needs a precious daughter to go shopping with. Inga was the first girl born in 5 generations in our family. By now, young Arthur was doing the math and he knew you really can't afford a perfect child every year, so he had an operation. Our family was perfect in every way. Mary dedicated her life to being the best wife and mother ever. We lived in many houses in our life time and ma made every one of them a home. When we came in from outside and closed the door, we were safe from the outside world and we could let down our guard. Because this was HOME. Ma was a Homemaker. The very best. She saw to it that God lived in our home. Mary was preceded in death by her four brothers, Carl, Lowell, Earl, and Leroy; and her three sisters, Onita, Helen and Ruby. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur Odden, sisters, Norma Jean (Dick) Isles and Betty Jo (Vern) Odden; sons, Bret and Eric (Lois) Odden; daughter, Inga Odden; grandson, Ian Bric (Yetta) Odden; great-granddaughters, Jorlynn and Iszabel Odden. Mary could have lived another 100 years and it wouldn't have been enough. We love her and miss her so much.
