Marvin was born on October 8, 1932, in Lodgepole to William "Bud" and Mamie Jean (Contway) Healy. He was raised in Lodgepole, attending school there, and entered the US Army in 1948, serving until 1956. He took a two-year hiatus, during which time he married Joan Shields, and their first son was born. Marvin re-entered the Army in 1958, and served in Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1971. During his Army career, he was stationed in California, Germany, and Colorado, receiving several service medals which include the Korean Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the United Nations Service Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After retirement, the family, which by this point had grown to include three more children, returned to Fort Belknap. They relocated to Spokane in 1973 and stayed until 1978, at which time they returned to Fort Belknap for good.

Marvin enjoyed bowling, playing guitar, fishing, hunting, camping, reading, woodworking, and telling tall tales. You could often find him working on crossword puzzles or challenging you to a game of Scrabble. He adored his grandchildren, and was very proud of the adults his children had become.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents William and Mamie Healy; his sister Annette Healy; and his brothers Ronald Healy, James Healy, Franklin "Chick" Healy, and William "Chopper" Healy, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Joan Healy of Fort Belknap; his daughter Susan Healy of Billings; his sons Marvin (Roanna Beauvais) Healy, Jr. of Ronan, Donald Healy of Fort Belknap, and Brian Healy of Wolf Point; his ten grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his sister Barbara Healy of Wallace, ID; his brothers David Healy of Big Warm, Wayne Healy of Havre, and Alan F. "Chuck" Healy of Arizona; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
