Obituary

Martin K. Kardell died November 5, 2016 at Northern MT Hospital after a year and a half long battle with cancer.  Martin's memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel with Tim Maroney officiating. Graveside committal will follow at Highland Cemetery in Havre with military honors. Memorial donations can be made in Martin's name to Sletten Cancer Center in Havre or to the charity of donor's choice. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Martin was born May 19, 1937 in Havre to Mildred Louise (Marshall) (Kardell) Moore & Frank Kardell. They later divorced. Mildred Kardell married Roy Moore. After Mildred's death, Roy Moore married Janettie (Young) Moore.

Martin was raised and educated in Havre and graduated from Havre High in 1955. He worked for the Block Plant in Havre and later for the Great Northern Railroad. Martin later served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force as a Major. He then returned to Havre and worked on the Burlington Northern Railroad. Martin married Janet Nethken and to this union two sons were born. They later divorced.

Martin was an avid bowler, extreme book reader and enjoyed writing poems. He loved to play cribbage and numerous other card games. He will be remembered for his quirky wit and great sense of humor. He will also be remembered for his extremely kind nature.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings – Vance, Lloyd, Earl, Lucille & Dave.

Martin is survived by his sons: Martin Kardell Jr.; Greg (Shannon) Kardell and grandchildren: Tamra (Jon) Arensmeyer of Maryland; Justin Kardell of South Carolina; Nathan (Allisa) Ramsbacher; Allyson Ramsbacher; Kaylee Kardell – all of Havre; along with three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
