Marilyn I. Sutherland, 70, passed away due to natural causes at her residence on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Wake services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, with funeral services taking place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Sutherland Family Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Marilyn was born on May 9, 1948, in Fort Belknap to Clarence and Irene (Sangrey) Morsette. She was raised in Rocky Boy, and attended school in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Following her school years, she returned home to Rocky Boy, and in 1968, Marilyn married Daniel Sutherland in Havre. The couple made their home in Rocky Boy where they raised their five children. Marilyn was a hard worker, both at home caring for her family, and in the workplace, where she served for 16 years as a Tribal Judge and for 11 years as a vocational rehabilitation clerk, a career from which she retired in 2016.
Marilyn was a kind, loving woman who enjoyed sewing, reading, keeping up with her family through Facebook, and beading.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Dylan Sutherland; parents Clarence and Irene Morsette; and brothers Carl and Kenneth Morsette.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Daniel Sutherland, of Rocky Boy; daughters Anna Sutherland, Danielle Sutherland, Cora Sutherland, and Shawnee (Kelly) Stump, all of Rocky Boy; adopted daughter Rose (Bobby) Romero of Rocky Boy; adopted son Theodore Daniel Sutherland of Rocky Boy; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother Alan (Yvette) Morsette of Rocky Boy; sisters Marcia (Ronnie) McDowell, and Lizabeth and Clarice Morsette, all of Rocky Boy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
