Maria P. Wurtz passed aware peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her loved ones. Maria was an avid church member all her life and loved to sing gospel hymns. She loved to sew in her younger days and when she got older and could not sew any more, she took up knitting and made numerous pairs of slippers for her grandchildren. She loved to watch the children play outside and call out to them. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Maria was a kindergarten teacher for twelve years, teaching them gospel songs and prayers. She was married to her devoted husband Andrew. They shared sixty-nine loving years together. Her daughter Mary was her devoted caretaker for four years as her health was failing. She was confined to a wheelchair for three of those years. The brightest spot in her day was seeing her great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all her relatives.

Maria was preceded in death by her mother Anna and father Paul; son Ed; sisters Anna and Rebecca; and brothers Paul, David, and Joseph

Maria is survived by her husband Andrew; daughters Mary (Paul) of Hidden Valley Colony, Annie (Joe) of Ridgeland Colony, Mathilda (Jonathon) of Ridgeland Colony, and Helen (Tim) of Milford Colony; sons Ed (Elsie), Joe (Susie), Tim (Katie) all of Hidden Valley Colony; sisters Margaret of Riverview Colony, Susanna and Lydia of Wheatland Colony; brothers Jacob of Hidden Valley Colony, Edward of Riverview Colony and Elias of Sunny Brook Colony; 19 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace, beloved mom, grandma, and great grandma.
