Lyle was born December 17, 1929, to Coleman and Sarah (Brumbaugh) Williams. He was raised with his siblings on his parent's homestead in Fresno, Montana. The family would move into the town of Kremlin during the winters so the kids could attend school. After graduating from high school Lyle worked seasonally for the sugar beet factory in Chinook and also for a short time on the railroad. He met Dorothy Wood when she was working in Gildford, and the couple started dating. They married November 6, 1955, in Gildford, Montana. Dorothy and Lyle made
their home on the Bill Brumbaugh farm working for Lyle's uncle. The couple raised their two sons, Daniel and Leon, and moved to the Williams farm in 1965 to work with his brother, John.
Lyle was a devoted member of the Sixth Avenue Christian church which is now the Fifth Avenue Christian Church. He and Dorothy attended Bible studies, served on the Missions Committee and on the church board in many different capacities for several years. The family enjoyed camping and various places like the Bear Paws, Hungry Horse, Flathead Valley and Bowman Lake. Lyle enjoyed fishing and took his sons to Big
River in Saskatchewan, Canada to go pike fishing. They would also do a lot of spear fishing at Fresno reservoir. In later years Lyle and Dorothy would travel to visit extended family and friends. They traveled to Hawaii and Yuma, Arizona. Their annual family trip was to the Miller - Beecher Reunion, that was held in Devil's Lake, ND and alternated the following year to somewhere in Montana. Family was important to them.
They were members of the Pinochle card club and enjoyed all of the neighbors' goodies and visits while they played.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman & Sarah Williams; his five siblings, brothers, Emery, John and Carl Williams and sisters, Mildred Woeppel and Bessie Doll.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Williams; two sons, Daniel and Leon Williams; one granddaughter, Malissa (Dustin) Chinadle; two great grandsons, Keaten and Paxten Chinadle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
