He was raised in Hays, attending Flandreau Indian School and Harlem High School, graduating from Harlem High School in 1974. He married Ruth Elledge in 1977, and their marriage was blessed with two children. The couple later divorced, and Ruth passed away in 1992. Lyle attended Fort Belknap college for five years, obtaining degrees in business and accounting there. Lyle enjoyed reading, playing cards, rolling dice, and playing cribbage, and he loved animals, especially his cat Sebastian whom he considered his second son. He really enjoyed Native American singing and was a member of the Hays Singers. Lyle had many, many friends who were dear to him, and he loved his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Irma Gone; his adoptive mother Mary Joyce Gone; his grandparents Morris Turcotte, Julia (McConnell) Turcotte, Fredrick Gone, and Mary (John) Gone; and his precious dog Pork. He is survived by his children Anjonette Rose Gone of Denver, CO, and Raymond James Gone of Limon, CO; his sisters Marilyn Julia Gone of Billings and Cynthia A. Gone of Hays; his brothers Raymond Duane (Deborah) Gone of Harlem; his adoptive brother Michael T. Stiffarm of IN; his numerous grandchildren; his two precious nephews Ronald Moccasin and Michael Rider; many other beloved traditional family members, including the Gone, Turcotte, Birdtail, John, and the McConnell families; and his extended adopted family members.
