Louis Bernardi, 93, died Thursday morning, May 10, 2012 at the Care and Comfort Home in Havre of natural causes. Cremation has taken place and at his request no services have been planned. Louis was born July 19, 1918 in Niagara Falls, New York to Peter and Rosa Bernardi. The family settled in New York after arriving from Italy. Louis was raised on the family dairy farm and educated in Niagara Falls. He left home at age 14 to find work wherever he could. Louis mined in many places and eventually moved to Wallace, Idaho. He lived in Wallace for around forty five years and retired there. Louis had two daughters, Mitzi Bennett and Gina Schaff. After retiring he moved to Havre, Montana to be closer to them. Louis was truly the best dad in the world. He enjoyed visits from family and always called his granddaughter Jamie, junior because that is what he nick- named her. While in Havre, Louis lived at the Care and Comfort Home for his last few months. The family greatly appreciates the loving care he received. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and brothers and his grandson Jesse Bennett. Louis is survived by his daughters: Gina Schaff of Havre, Montana and Mitzi Bennett of Fort Benton, Montana; four granddaughters and 13 great-grandchildren.
