Linda Lee Kathryn Gomke, 74, passed away Tuesday morning January 11, 2022, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. Cremation has taken place and her graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Linda's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society. Linda was born July 12, 1947, in Havre, Montana to David and Vivian (Dever) Mapes. She was raised and educated in Havre. After graduation, she attended Northern Montana College earning her Associate degree. She moved to western Montana in the Kalispell area for a time and then returned to Havre. She went to work at the Hill County Court House in 1981 for the County Assessor's Office and the Department of Revenue. She enjoyed her time working and made many friends. Linda raised her two children: daughter, Shannon and her son, Randy. Linda was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She married Michael Gomke on July 6, 1990. They made their home in Havre. Together they enjoyed traveling all over to visit extended family and friends or just to see new places. Linda enjoyed her grandchildren. They were the joy of her life. Linda enjoyed many hobbies, crocheting, sewing, counted cross stitch and miscellaneous crafts. She also loved to watch movies and getting together with her friends. She gave of her time and energy to her civic organizations and was always willing to help someone out.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Shannon Root; and son, Randy (Becky) Root; stepdaughter, Kristin Gomke; and stepson, Eric Gomke; 15 grandchildren; Uncle Kenneth (Donna) Madden; her two close friends: Carol Solomon and Yvette LaValley; and many cousins.
