Linda L. Azure, 69, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Pastor Marvin Russette officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
Linda was born on October 1, 1952, in Fort Belknap to Albert and Mary (Jeonotte) Azure, one of twins. She was raised primarily in Havre, attending school there. Following her school years, Linda worked mainly as a bartender for many years. She married Richard Schmockel, and the couple had many years together, sharing their families and their lives, before he passed away.
Linda enjoyed spending time with friends and family, socializing with friends all over town, joking and laughing with everyone, and having BBQs. She loved to travel with Richard and going on cruises through town and the mountains.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Schmockel; parents, Albert and Mary Azure; brothers, Mickey, Jerry, Lester, Ronnie, and Curtis; sisters, June, Delores, and Georgiana; bonus children, Billy and Cynthia Schmockel; granddaughter, Stacey Azure; and niece, Vicky Azure.
Linda is survived by her children, Kenny Ellis, Liz Ellis, Chance LaMere, and bonus daughters and great friend, Sharon Schmockel, and Marcella Knaub; grandchildren, Mariah (Cole Henderson) Ellis-Stump, Gabrielle Ellis, Chase Schmautz, Richard Schmockel, Tanya Schmockel, Joey Larson, Johnny Ray Schmockel, and Jamie, Phillip, Kelly, and Wesley Knaub; great-grandchildren, Mathias, Kadin, Aubrey, R.J., Neveah, Klay, Kyrie, Kadyn, Jesse, and Mya; great-great-grandchildren, Capri and Leon; brothers, Alan (Kay) Azure, and Lonnie (Linda) Azure; lifelong friends, Mona Bahr, Denise WindyBoy, and Elaine Healy-Valdez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
