It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leslie Wayne Kaercher (71) who died on Sunday, December 28th, after complications from a severe stroke.

Les, son of Lloyd and Audrey (Langel) Kaercher, grew up on the family farm West of Havre. He considered himself lucky for the opportunity to farm and to take care of the land. Les always felt that he never worked a day in his life.

Les met his partner, Terri "outstanding in his field" and she was impressed by him driving a little yellow Subaru. They married on August 26,1983, raised a family, and recently retired. Theirs was a partnership of laughter, hard work, and adventures.

In his spare time, you could find Les at Bear Paw Ski Bowl wearing many hats. From grooming the slopes to fixing almost anything, he was a dedicated volunteer.

His distinctive voice, smile and beautiful laugh will be remembered along with his kindness, willingness to help, and easy going manner. Les took the time to make people feel welcome and comfortable. He believed deeply in the importance of caring for one another.

Les is survived by his partner, Terri Kaercher, daughters Kyra Kaercher (Casey Donoven), and Jamaica Kaercher (Jack Golden), siblings Diane Kaercher, Joan (Eric) Hendricks, and Doug (Darla) Kaercher and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to either Snowdance Ski Association (PO Box 1121, Havre, MT 59501), Montana Free Press (PO Box 1425, Helena, MT 59624), or a charity of your choice.
